基于英语学习活动观的高中英语听说教学实验探讨

Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Research Background

The development of informatization has accelerated the communication andcooperation between China and other countries.English has become increasinglyimportant as the primary language in international communication.English listeningand speaking ability are essential indicator for students’further studies andemployment and a necessary skill for them to communicate on the international stagein the future.To enhance international competitiveness,the new English curriculumputs forward the core competence of English discipline in which is language ability asthe foundation.Language ability refers to the student’s ability to listen,speak,readand write.Listening and speaking,as necessary language forms in daily life,are alsoused more than reading and writing.

The English curriculum now has higher quality criteria for teaching Englishlistening and speaking due to the progress of curricular reform.The revisedcurriculum standard places a strong emphasis on developing students’capacity toapply language abilities in practical situations,which requires that English listeningand speaking teaching should be student-centered,pay more attention to students’participation and experience,and advocate cultivating students’English listening andspeaking ability through practical activities.The new curriculum standard putsforward the activity-based English learning.The statement emphasizes that engagingin activities is the main method for learning English and the most effective techniqueto cultivate students’core competence.

1.2 Research Purpose

Under this background,this paper combined the activity-based English learningwith high school English listening and speaking class to stimulate high schoolstudents’interest,motivation,self-confidence and classroom participation in listeningand speaking learning,and to improve their English listening and speaking learningability.In addition,this study can provide some experiences for high school Englishlistening and speaking class,and help improve students’English core qualityeffectively by implementing several activities that have been organized around theactivity-based English learning.

Chapter 2 Literature Review

2.1 Definition of the Activity-based English Learning

In this study,activity-based English learning comes from General Senior HighSchool Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition).The activity-based English learningrefers to a series of comprehensive,relevant,and practical activities,such asperceiving and understanding,applying and practicing,and transferring and creating.Under the guidance of thematic meaning,students can promote their languageknowledge,language skills,cultural understanding,multiple thinking development,value orientation judgment,and learning strategy application in analyzing and solvingproblems based on their knowledge and relying on different types of discourse.Theprocess of language knowledge and problem-solving is not only a matter of languageknowledge and language skills but also of cultural understanding,multiple thinking,value judgments,and learning strategies.This process integrates and developslanguage knowledge and skills,raising cultural awareness and improving thinkingquality and learning ability.This process is both a process of integrating anddeveloping linguistic knowledge and language skills and continually improving corecompetencies in the discipline(Ministry of Education,2020).

After the theory was put forward,many authoritative scholars have analyzed theconnotation of the activity-based English learning in depth.Zhang(2019)conducted a further study on the connotation of activity-based English learning,pointing out that itaims to develop the core literacy of English subjects.It not only focuses on thelearning of language knowledge,the training of language skills,and the developmentof langu
