2.1.1 Preparation of Terms and Parallel Text
Term or terminology refers a noun or compound word used in a specific context.Thetranslation of terms is of great significance in the overall translation quality.In the highlyprofessional automobile text,it is more necessary to translate the terms accurately(Gu,2017).If the translation is incorrect or inaccurate,it will affect the communication of thecontent in the text and the use of the text for readers.On the other hand,terms often have asingle or specific correspondence in the two languages,and translators cannot deal withthem in another flexible way,such as replacing them with other words.Therefore,it isessential to prepare terms before translation.In this regard,it is necessary to sort out aglossary,that is,to list all the words and phrases that may be involved in the source text forreference at any time.
2.2 While-translation
In this translation task,the author participated in three tasks:first draft generation,translation revision and translation typesetting.According to the requirements of the taskteam,the author need translate parts of the content every day,and marked the places thathe did not understand or still had questions,so as to have a full discussion with othermembers of the team.As the translation progresses,the translator will continue to deeplyunderstand the source text and constantly find problems and difficulties,so it is necessaryto modify and improve the translation many times to make sure that the translation conveysthe content and information of the source text faithfully and smoothly.
2.2.1 Generation of Machine Translation
In the generation stage of the first draft,the computer-aided translation software Transmate is used for machine translation.The main steps include the establishment ofterm base and memory base,the establishment of new translation projects,pre-translationand revision of translation.First,the translator need to create a new project,enter theproject name,and set the source language and target language.Then go to the next step,import the source language text file,followed by memory and term base management.Here,the author adjusts the format of the glossary and parallel text prepared beforetranslation into a suitable format,imports them into software as term base and memorybank of this translation project,and selects“Update”.In this way,it can not only make useof the corpus prepared before translation,but also save the new translation corpus from thisproject to the technical language base and memory bank.So far,the establishment of thenew project is completed.After these preliminary works are ready,the author pretranslatesthe text.In the section of pretranslation,the author applies the online translation and termbase,as well as 70%fuzzy matching to obtain the first draft of the translation aftermachine translation.
