Further investigation also revealed the influence smart tourism has on both destination sites and the tourists who patronize these brands. Abuja was picked as the case study for this research, due to the fact that Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria, any development done has to first happen in Abuja before being extended to other parts of Nigeria. Looking  at  the  data  and  findings  gotten,  there  is  a  relationship  that  runs  between  smart tourism,  destination  sites,  and  the  demographic  characteristics  of  the  tourists  who  visit. Thereby,  looking  at  it  from  a  theoretical  point,  this  paper  targets  mainly,  antecedents  and consequences of smart tourism development and every other connection of smart tourism to destinations and the tourists. 

First objective: The objective is to better understand the antecedents and consequences of the tourism industry in the city of Abuja, take an in-depth look into the development of the tourism industry. As technology becomes the “in thing” in a lot of business sectors including the  tourism  industry,  it  is  important  to  state  that  there  are  still  some  parts  of  the  tourism industry in Abuja (Nigeria) that hasn’t fully utilized the benefits of this modern technology in their  brands.  The  antecedents  ranged  from  economic  factors,  technological  factors,  and environmental  factors  also  looking  at  the  consequences,  the  positive  impacts  were  not overlooked.  The  rate  of  cyber-crimes  that  was  ushered  in  with  the  emergence  and development of technology, the exposure of privacy, and the pollution that comes with the use of  technological  infrastructures.  But  there  is  a  need  for  the  advancement  of  the  tourism industry for a better tourism experience, which will, in turn, bring more tourists to the city of Abuja and add to its growth.
