4.0 Introduction
The principal purpose of this study was to explore and offer an understanding into the challenges and coping strategies of women leaders in the colleges of education in Ghana. Over the past decades’ women within the colleges have attained responsible leadership positions that were previously traditionally occupied by men. The findings from this section are projected from data collected from twelve (12) women leaders in two (2) colleges of education from the Central Region of Ghana. The study aimed at collecting data from women leaders about their leadership roles within the colleges of education to provide in-depth understanding into their career paths, acknowledging the difficulties they encountered in leadership and identifying possible coping mechanisms that have helped impacted on female leadership in such institutions.
The presentation is done in four (4) main headings with each addressing one aspect of the interview guide. They include (i) Demographic information of study participants (ii) Adversities/difficulties women leaders encounter in leadership in the colleges of education (iii) Reasons accounting for such adversities/difficulties (iv) Strategies women leaders adopt to copy with such adversities/difficulties. The presentation of the findings is organized under themes developed from the interviews through transcription and coding. The themes are aligned with my research questions in the presentation of the findings. Code identities are given to women and some words and phrases are in bold type for emphasis and attention. Also, verbatim responses are in italics.

5.0 Summary of the Study
Studies of women leaders in higher education aspiring to traditionally male-dominated positions in in Ghana and Africa in the larger context is fairly inadequate. Despite the numerous and complex challenges Ghanaian women academics face, there is currently no published studies done regarding the challenges women academics within the colleges of education in Ghana especially the few who find are break the glass ceiling into management. This research addresses the serious gap in the literature in the context of the colleges of education and sought to provide insight into the experiences that may be distinct to women leaders in the colleges.
