Chapter Two Relevant Knowledge and Requirements of Business Negotiation Interpreting

2.1 Classification of Interpretation     
Translation can be classified into written translation and interpretation, whether written  translation  or  interpretation  both  use  a  different  kind  of  language  to  explain and  reproduce  the  meaning  and  content  of  the  source  language.  The  difference between the written translation and interpretation is just the form of expression, one is in the written form and the other is in the oral form. Interpretation is a special kind of oral communication means. Its task is to play a role of bridge and link between the communicators  using  different  languages  and  in  different  cultural  background. However, it also can make both sides do a natural conversation. There are many kinds of  interpreting  classification  methods  according  to  the  form,  direction  and  task  of interpreting.  In  the  light  of  the  interpreting  task,  interpretation  can  be  divided  into many  types,  such  as  conference  interpreting,  foreign  affairs  interpreting,  military interpreting, medical interpreting, business interpreting and so on. Of course, there are many other types of interpretation, which are applied in the specified occasions. For example,  business  negotiation  interpreting,  is  more  targeted  in  the  practical application.
 
2.2 Definition of Business Negotiation
The  definition  of  negotiation  is  that  both  sides  which  are  involved  in  the negotiation communicate information with each other for a certain kind of need. The purpose  of  the  two  parts  is  to  coordinate  the  relationship  between  them  through discussing so that they can win their respective interests in the end.  In  the  process  of  business  negotiation,  both  sides  need  to  make  a  good communication and exchange with each other in order to reach an agreement on the problems which cannot be agreed by both of them. Although both sides may confront some  conflicts  of  interest  when  communicating,  they  also  depend  on  each  other.  In order  to  realize  their  own  interests,  both  sides  will  often  make  certain  concessions. Both sides in the negotiation need to confront the contradiction between conflicts of interest and common interest, which is the basis for the negotiation happen and reach an  agreement.  Business  negotiation  of  the  two  parties  involved  economic  relations and  trade  demand  and  it  also  has  the  highest  incidence  and  the  widest  range  in international  affairs.  Moreover,  it  is  most  closely  associated  with  people’  daily  life.
