Chapter Five ConclusionUnder the guidance of communication theory, the translator has completed thetranslation practice of Under the Influence by applying specific translation techniques.Thischapter is to make a general reflection on what has been learned and achieved in thetranslation practice. The deficiency of the translation task due to the translator’sincapability will also be examined.
We call translation an art because it is a process that involves creation.Chinese andEnglish come from two completely different language families, and it is very difficult toachieve complete equivalence between the languages,so it seems that creation is aninevitable thing. As the person who creates the work, the translator needs to have a basicunderstanding of the background of the source text and,if necessary, its culture.Besides, the translator’s own translation capability and understanding directly affect the quality ofthe translation, and improving this capability is not instantaneous, just like capital oftencomes from the original accumulation,in order to realize this accumulation,we need aninsightful heart,a broad vision and continuous translation practice.
