In this assignment, thedesign of an additional station in HS2in terms of location and layout, as well as the designof track layout, are proposed. This proposal takes various factors into consideration, including cost, duration, access of passengers, and attitude of local communities, etc.Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction of this assignment, including motivation, scope and basic structure. In the second chapter, the background of railway track systems and infrastructures (including the history and recent advances) is presented to help readers establish a basic understanding of these systems. Afterwards, the location and layout of an additional station in HS2 are proposed in Chapter 3, followed by the design of track layout in Chapter 4. Finally, a conclusion is drawn based on the design and analysis presented, followed by suggestions on further development of the design proposed. This report serves as a good example for future designof stations and track systems.

1. Introduction


In this assignment, the authorproposes thedesign of an additional station in HS2in terms of location and layout, as well as the designof track layout. This proposal takes various factors into consideration, including cost, duration, access of passengers, and attitude of local communities, etc.

6. Conclusions


In conclusion, thedesign of the Chiltern Rail Station in HS2Line proposed. This proposal includedthe location proposed for the station (as well as reasoning), the layout of the station, and the designof track layout. This station is expecting a huge passenger traffic as it is an intersection point of two busy rail lines.Therefore, the station is designed with a capacity of 7,000 passengers. These two lines are crossing at different levels, thus requiring staggered platforms. Also, ancillary facilities such as restaurants and supermarket are included for a better passenger experience. The design proposed in this report serves as a good reference to the actual design of the additional station in the HS2 line.
