摘要：本文探讨英语中的话语标记语。话语标记语不含命题意义，只有程序意义，即它们对话语的命题真假性不产生影响。话语标记语主要体现了两种功能：语篇功能和人际功能。其中语篇功能又能分为局部语篇功能和整体语篇功能。话语标记语的使用让话语或语篇的连贯性得到明示，将话语单元在各个层面上可能存在的联系关系展现出来，给受话人提供理解的指引。
