2.3 Unit Durian Yield in Thailand from 2012 to 2015 (Unit: tons / Lai)

From the above three graphs, there is an increasingtrend regardless of the plantingareaor production, and the planting area increased greatly. In 2014, due to lower per unitarea production, total production declined, but Thailand still ranked first in the durianexporting countries. In 2015, durian planting area was up to 686,582 Lai, the plantingarea which has production was 573,282 Lai, or about 83.49% of the total planting areaof the country; Total production was 601,884 tons, fresh durian exports amounted to358,192 tons,or about 59.51%oftotal productionwiththe value ofTHB13.246 billion.

Therefore, from the analysis of the export trend of fresh durian and the growth trend ofdurian export volumeandexport value,wecanseethat durianproductionareincreasing,the demand including the international market on fresh durian and durian products isalso growing, especially the Chinese market which is the most important market forfresh Thai durian. On the contrary, due to the rising price domestic sales are alsoreduced. While in 2014, domestic durian consumption in Thailand began to decline.
