Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Research Background
As the most widely used language in the world,English is playing an increasinglyimportant role in primary and secondary education in China.With the globalization of theeconomy and the informatization of social life,English has gradually become an essentialskill for our new generation of young people.Therefore,as far as Chinese primary educationis concerned,English has become one of the most important main subjects,keeping pace withChinese and maths.With a history of thousands of years in China,in such a country where theChinese language environment is deeply rooted.How to improve primary school’s high-levelstudents’English listening and speaking ability has become one of the biggest problems inEnglish teaching of primary schools.
The“cramming”and“spoon-feed”teaching make primary school English become aburden on the shoulders of primary school’s high-level students.The traditional teaching iscentered on the teacher.And the students receive the knowledge from the teachers in the roleof being instilled.Moreover,the teacher’s teaching method is also traditional.The seriousnessruns through the whole class.Reciting words and reading texts become the main contents ofthe class,and finally judging the students’learning status based on the examination results.Under the impact and poisoning of this traditional exam-oriented education system for a longtime,the current situation of English listening and speaking teaching in primary school’shigh-level stage is not optimistic.Under such a teaching mode,primary school’s high-levelstudents do not learn English spontaneously.They do not regard English as a language,but asa course,which they learn by rote memorization.Because of this learning mode,coupled withthe age characteristics of primary school students,there is no interest in the teaching class sothat the primary school’s high-level students can not maintain their attention for a long time inthe class.
1.2 Research Significance
No matter at any time,there are certain values in the society we live in.Theestablishment of educational games must be based on the premise of conforming to thesevalues.The main purpose of educational games is to enable learners to combine the fun in lifewith the purposes and methods they want to achieve in the learning process,so that thestudents’learning is can from the heart.Plato,a famous western educator,believed that therole of educational games is to enhance students’interest in learning and Plato hoped to applyeducational games to children’s education.Therefore,it can be said that educational gamescan play a considerable role in the process of students’education.This role can besummarized as the following points.
In our life,people’s feelings about external events need to be reorganized to gainexperience or memory after being processed by the brain.This is a part of psychology and anelement that learners must rely on.Perception is the first step for people to accept externalthings.With it,learners transfer knowledge after receiving and processing external information.The establishment of educational games is to combine vision and perception,sothat students can perceive knowledge in a very pleasant atmosphere,and then stimulateinterest.In this case,the student sees with the eyes,hears with the ears,understands with thebrain and responds quickly.In this way,students are able to better understand and retainknowledge.So that students can improve their listening and speaking ability easier.
