6.1 Major Findings
This paper analyzes 60 episodes’English subtitles of Peppa Pig from the perspective ofappraisal theory.Employing a combined quantitative and qualitative approach,it initiallypresents the quantities and frequencies of each category of appraisal resource.Subsequently,it delves into an analysis of every sub-system within the theory.Based on this comprehensiveanalysis,the principal findings can be summarized as follows.
First of all,specifically,within the dataset,attitude resources account for 40.5%(represented by a total of 1676 instances),engagement resources make up 23.5%(with 972occurrences),and graduation resources contribute to 36.1%(manifested in 1495 instances).Evidently,attitudinal meanings are the most frequently occurring,followed by graduation,while engagement resources occur least often among the three categories.
Secondly,in the dataset,under the system of attitude,affect represents 16.3%of the totalinstances with 676 occurrences,judgment constitutes 12.6%with 521 instances,andappreciation accounts for 11.6%with 480 instances.The realization of attitudinal meanings isdiverse.Attitude resources in Peppa Pig disclose parental educational philosophies,demonstrating how Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig balance their love for their children with afocus on character development through patient guidance,foster emotional stability
