1.0 Introduction
With time passed on and the development of science technology, media become more and more important in the lives of human beings. The media include all media technologies—including television, newspapers, radio, internet and new medium mobile phone—which are used for mass communications (Potter, 2008:32). There is no doubt that 21st century is the information age. Mass media will play an important role in the development of informational society. “Mass media play a significant role in shaping public perceptions on a variety of important issues, both through the information that is dispensed through them, and through the interpretations they place upon this information.” (Rowland & Patty, 1994:36). So, media will be important in the solving of social relationships. In the social relationships, gender difference will be paid a lot of attention. Gender differences can be departed into sex and gender differences. With the development of human beings’ society, there are a lot of gender discriminations in different areas. As an important tool of modern people, is there sexism in media? This easy will discuss this question. It will be departed into two parts. At first, this essay will discuss that are the media sexist? Both qualitative research and quantitative research will be used in this part to get a conclusion. Then, it will discuss the reasons causing this result. Quantitative research will be the main research method in this part.

5.0 Conclusion
The main objective of this essay is to solve the question that is there sexism in media? To solve this question, this essay uses three main steps to give a conclusion. At first, it listed the phenomena of differences between males and females. There are at least five obvious differences between males and females. They are: there are more males in reports than females; males can show in wilder industries of media than females, females have to show more bodies than males, males are showed stronger than females and females are commercialised by media. Through content analysis of  http://www.51lunwen.org/gongguan/2011/0608/lw201106081518552048.html these five parts, a conclusion will be got easily—there is sexism in media. Then second part will be got. This part discusses the main gender discriminations in media. Three main discriminations are listed. Media emphasize that men are stronger than women, men are the controller of this world and women should pay more attention to their face but not knowledge. The gender discriminations in media will no doubt cause some influences. But they are caused by some reasons such as histories, audiences’ need and women’s no straggling. In summary, there is sexism in media and media will strengthen the sexism in the society. This discrimination should be eliminated for the development of healthy cross-gender communication.
