This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women. Female’s status of a country and a society has always been constructing and maintaining, and female’s rights have different definition in different cultures. Learning the emerging and development of feminism through china and western countries, we can find that female characters in different countries experienced very complicated changes in social position and power. With the development of the time, and the progress of the society, females are fighting for their rights. This essay will contrast the development of western countries, annalizing how western feminism influenced Chinese feminism.

The development and history of feminism in China and western countries shows that it is not the western feminism enlighten Chinese feminism. In the initial stage, western and Chinese feminism camp for their own and develop themselves. After 1950s, under the influence of overseas students, western feminism began affect China, it is obvious that, western feminism runs longer than Chinese feminism, but in view of different history and social reality, each of them has their own merits as well as defect.  
After the western literature criticism entered into China,  Chinese feminism changed a lot. 
Western feminism refers to the ideological trend and movement resulted from Occident and targeted at eliminating sexual discrimination and realizing the equality between men and women. After the 18th French Revolution, the book “declaration of the rights of citizens and women” wrote by Allen De goodger symbolizes the official formation of the ideological trend and movement of western feminism.
