Personal Statement-Marketing
An experienced marketing supervisor major international trade, I am submitting this documents in support of my application for acceptance into your graduate Program. With more than two years of marketing practice and training, I now stand ready to pursue advanced studies and scale grander heights in my career.
Presently, I work at Sony HongKong Corporation Guangzhou Branch, responsible for marketing of Sony digital PC link products, such as digital camera, monitor etc in South China. I traveled and visited distributors and key accounts extensively across cities, so it provide me opportunities to look into China PC market and obtained lots of market experiences based on diligent and creative working. I also accumulated professional and advanced knowledge in IT technologies in a relatively short time.
Because of my excellent performance and potential of administration, I was appointed in the beginning of 1999 as the supervisor of a team to develop whole marketing work in South China. I attended several training programs which held in Sony headquarter in Beijing, including “Marketing management” and “New market of PC in China” etc. I put what 1 learned into practice and successfully enlarged Sony digital camera market share in main cities.
I believe, indeed, my educational experience in high school and university give me great ambitions and perseverance to achieve what I’m dreaming. Even after graduation from university.
I still benefit a lot from those hardworking days.
My high school, “The affiliated middle school of South China Normal University”, one of the most famous middle school in China, gave me strict and creative early education. Because of its semi-military management, all the students are taught to develop abilities of teamwork and “try your best to get the honor”. And with the most advanced and completely facilities, students are encouraged to develop the field they are interested in and “do something different”. So why I’d like to mention my high school experience here is: It is there taught me intelligence, creativity, and every merit lead to success.
In the summer of 1993, I entered Beijing Institute of Business, one of the best universities focus on commerce and trade in China, and majoring in International Trade. To build up solid academic background, I studied industriously. Because I was deeply in love with my major area, I always took part in lectures, which held by famous professors and directors from government. And really, it broadens my eyesight and enriches understanding of commerce.
I didn’t allow my heavy load of study to deter me from taking part in extracurricular activities. While in the end of 1994, China is planning to participate the GATT (the former organization of WTO), and still under tough negotiations with many western countries. Many students in our university are interested in GATT but they didn’t know clearly what is GALL and how it’s working. So I established a Students Club called “Union of Commerce Study”, we organized Saloon, lecture and many parties in order to provide a opportunity for students to discuss and learn related knowledge of GATT and commerce. Actually it earned popularity among students and more than 200 members enrolled in this union. To be frankly, I also learned a lot from other people and developed my abilities of administration.
Another thing I’d like to mention is my English proficiency. I took TOEFL test in 1995, scored 575 (TWE 4.5) and GRE in 1996, scored 1930. in order to keep up my English level, after graduation more than two years, I participated IELTS test in Dec. 1999 and got general score 6.5.
If I am lucky enough to be admitted by your esteemed university, I would like to choose the information science or commerce areas to continue my advanced study. And after completion, I will return to my motherland and contribute my learning to China economic development.
