Introduction
The US financial crisis has spread to many countries including Canada. On October 9th the US treasury official carried out 700 billion dollars bailout to assist the US economy recession. Just two days ago eleven countries as a unit reduce the base interest rate, saving rate and loan rate of their own countries in order to prompt the weak economy situation. The current US president George.W.Bush said that they are confident to overcome this tough crisis but not in the short term.
The influence of US financial crisis has lasted from the first half year of 2007 to today and no one knows its deadline yet. At the beginning of this crisis, the USD/CAD currency exchange rate fell dramatically which became good news for Canadian local people. Many local Canadian chose to spend their weekend in its neighbor USA. The Canadian purchased private cars, daily commodities and ice creams with US dollars which had depreciate its value.
With the development of the US financial crisis it plays negative influence of Canada economy. From 18th, June the stock market of Canada fell rapidly by 18.7%. The banking and financial business is the foundation stone of Canada economy. It mainly includes bank, securities and insurance which all relate to US dollars and US economy. Under the condition of US housing crash the Canada local financial sectors dismissed many financial practitioners and increase the unemployment rate of local cities including Victoria. Besides, the economic development of many Canadian cities is prior to expand the manufacturing business and export to the USA. But now it lost a lot with less order of manufacturing products. Moreover, with the conflicts of Canadian economy recession many residences request to hold the general election to change a new leader.
The economy of Canadian economy excessively depends on that of US economy which results in much negative influence. The financial crisis of US economy has become a public topic as well as my interested in. This topic is also helpful for me to further my study during the stage of undergraduate. It focuses on the influence of US financial crisis in Victoria and tries to find out solution to assist local economy. I believe these methods are important and meaningful to the local Canadian and economy development of Canada. The research methods, data and code will be shown in the discussion below.
