Abstract: Data mining is an important research area of recent intelligent system theories. It c<nn-bines advanced techniques, such as artificial intelligence, computational intelligence(artificial neural network, genetic algorithm),pattern recognition, statistics to mine and discover valuable and hidden knowledge from databases. The principle of data mining and its applications in modeling, optimization and fault diagnosis are described. T he approaches of GA一based fuzzy rule generalization, rough set-based rule mining, modeling for fault diagnosis based on multiple models are presented.
