Smoothing and Differentiation of Thermogravimetric Data (State Key Laboratory of Fire Science, USTC, Hefei, Anhui, 230026, People ’s Republic of China) Abstract: High quality data smoothing is frequently required in the thermal analysis. In this paper, three smoothing methods are used to obtain the derivative thermogravimetric (DTG) curves, and the smoothing results are compared. From the performance of the methods is shown in one application, we can conclude that the Vondrak method is the best and the Gaussian method is better than the average smoothing method.
