《简 爱》中女主人公叛逆性格的成因

摘要


小说《简爱》成功的塑造了一个新时期的女性形象:渴望自由、爱憎分明和拥有强烈的反抗精神。小说的女主人公简爱与不公平的现实作斗争,期望获得独立和平等的待遇,反映了当时的妇女和儿童所遭受的不平等待遇。这本小说主要阐述了女主人公简爱叛逆性格的形成过程。本文主要研究了夏洛蒂•勃朗特最著名的小说《简爱》里面女主人公的叛逆性格,简要介绍了小说作者、小说主要内容和本文的主要结构。阐述了其他学者对这本小说的研究成果,界定了叛逆性格的特点,分析了简爱叛逆性格的成因,以及对她自己和当代女性带来的影响。

 Abstract

The novel Jane Eyre successfully sculptures a new female image who longs for freedom, has a clear idea of what one should hate or love and owns a strong resistant spirit. Its heroine is Jane Eyre, who fights against the unfair reality to achieve independent personality and equal treatment. It describes the unequal conditions suffered by children and women at that time. The novel illustrates the process of heroine’s development and builds up the history of Jane Eyre’s rebellious spirit from the beginning to the end. 


The paper mainly studies the rebellious character of the heroine in Jane, which is the most famous novel of Charlotte Bronte, giving a brief introduction of the writer, the novel and the main content of the paper, introducing other people’s studies about the novel, studying the traits of rebellious character, analyzing the cause of Jane’s rebellious character,expounding the influences of Jane’s rebellious character on modern women and herself.

Jane Eyre aims at representing how the embittered little charity child found the way to come to terms with life and society through her rebellious sprit and marvelous courage. The novel moves from stage to stage of Jane Eyre’s development, dividing in⁃to four sharply distinct phases: awareness of rebellion, formation of rebellion, expansion of rebellion, climax of rebellion, winding up with fulfillment in marriage at Fern dean.

B. Central idea of the thesis

Jane Eyre's story is the production of historical society--- a common woman who was in lower position and suffered social depression ,but wanted the ambition and requirement of freedom and equality , whose fate convey the strongest sound of remonstration to pursue economic and social rights at that moment . In British literature, Jane Eyre is a new woman image .Contrasting with many woman characters in contemporary novels, Jane Eyre is not a beauty or a girl with noble background, and she is very common in appearance.
