Abstract: Emma's flaw is her tendency to concern herself too much with other
people's lives. She is snobbish and always think she is right. It's Mr. Knightley,
who leads Emma's purification.
Key words: Emma, Mr. Knightley, snobbery(自以为是), purification, faults, matchmaker
When I read the novel EMMA written by Jean Austen, I am always wondering: how
Emma can be such kind of woman, who should be called "bad woman";And
how she can be so lucky to marry with Mr. Knightley, who was so gentle ,so smart.
(Although he was one of the few people who could see faults in Emma Woodhouse,
and the only one who ever told her of them... ) . It's unfair. She should be
punished for her bad behavior-always think she was right. At least she can not
be rewarded so good future--good marriage. I can't calm down, and thew the book
away, gossiped: "nonsense! It's just a joke".
Later, I picked up the book lying at the corner, this time I read it very carefully.
This time, I thought I made great progress to understand the character of Emma.
And I began to know why Emma existed in that society .
