Key word: Hemingway Jack Brett the lost generation
As Hemingway's first long novel, The Sun Also Rises certainly contributed to the
public's first novel of this author who was a serious artist and as a character
as roman a def.
The novel commences with two epigraphs .The first id quoted from Hemingway's conversation
with the stein. "You are all a lost generation." The second is from
Ecclesiastes 1,verse 4-7:
One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh, but the earth abideth
forever---- The sun also Aristech, and hasteth to the place where we arose ----
The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north, it whirleth
about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits-All
the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full, unto the place from whence
the rivers come thither they return again.
The French waiters are materialistic and the meal tickets on the train are out
at the office of the company' in an impersonal way that infuriates Jake and Bill.
In Spain, convenely the woman in the poised (inn) where Sake, Bill and Basques
stop for wine, return his tip to him, thinking he has overpaid by mistake .The
Basques on the bus share their wine bags freely and their dancers insist that
the expatriate eat from their large bowl of tuna fish, onions and vinegar 'Fat'
.Say some of the natives. ' What do you think it's here for?' Hemingway also contrasts
his heroes with their tutor's .If we assure that Jake Bratt is the hero who has
a conflict to resolve, then we should be able to act or think in a new way. Candidates
for the role as the novel's tutors include Pedro Romero, who exhibits purity of
line and grace under pressure; To a leisure extent, Court, who has developed a
personal philosophy that enables him to enjoy life.
As Hemingway's first long novel, The Sun Also Rises makes him famous and the representative.
If the representative of the literature of the 'lost generation'. Hemingway is
an authentic artifact, a piece of the continent, an American author whose career
changed the face of fiction.
